Brandon Avenue Gallery
Winnipeg’s history is thoroughly tied to the Red River, and its aviation heritage is no different. The murky, lazy waters of the Red were the perfect destination for the floats and skis that were required landing gear in remote destinations. The Brandon Avenue air base—off Osborne Street—became an essential economic hub for the region. During its glory years, in the late 1920s and 1930s, all manner of aircraft flew in and out of this base.
