Celebrate the dawn of modern aviation.
Stevenson Field in the 1950s
The original name for Winnipeg’s international airport, Stevenson Field was one of the busiest airports in the country in the 50s. The operational headquarters for Canada’s national airline, Trans-Canada Air Lines (now Air Canada) was on the airport as was the military and numerous aviation manufacturing firms. The airport was an engine of economic growth for the region. It was the golden era for the aviation industry in Winnipeg.
