We’re very pleased to have Col Steve Bannister, Ret’d, Vice president of the Gimli Glider Museum, speak to us about the Gimli Glider and the museum. The Gimli Glider is, of course, the Air Canada Boeing 767 which ran out of fuel during a flight from Montreal to Edmonton and made a safe landing on the decommissioned runway at the former RCAF Station Gimli.
The museum has acquired artefacts from the aircraft and crew who were on that flight. The aircraft is now, unfortunately, mostly scrap metal. Steve will talk about the flight, the aircraft, and the development of the museum.
