Join us for Airport Extravaganza, an interactive experience to practice every step of the airport journey from check-in to touchdown, all within our family-friendly hangar! For one week, the museum will transform into a bustling airport, giving young travelers the chance to practice every step of the journey. There’s no flight delays or lost luggage – just a first-class day of family fun.
Whether your family has a trip coming up, your child dreams of airplanes, or you’re simply looking for a unique day out, come with your imagination packed and get ready for takeoff!
Passports and Luggage: Young travelers will create their own passport and luggage, personalized to their dream destinations!
Security Safety: Kids can experience the routine steps of airport security – from baggage check to boarding clearance.
Now Boarding: Passengers can board our restored Vickers Viscount airliner, with experienced pilots and flight attendants waiting to welcome them on board!
Games and Gliders: After the plane lands, young adventurers can test their flying skills with activities and unwind in our airport lounge.

On July 18th and 19th the Museum will be hosting representatives of Air Canada who will be on site to meet and greet guests, answer questions and help welcome you into the Airport experience! Stop by the booth and say hi!

He’s cleared for takeoff… and heading to the Royal Aviation Museum!
Join us Sunday, July 19 as Captain Blue, the legendary flying mascot of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, lands at the Museum witht he Bombers Biplane for a special appearance during our Airport Adventure event.
Meet one of Manitoba’s most recognizable aviation personalities, snap a photo, share a high-five, and experience a day filled with aircraft, airport-themed activities, interactive exhibits, and family fun.
Whether you’re a lifelong Bombers fan or simply love aviation, this is your chance to see Captain Blue and the Bombers Biplane up close in the perfect setting.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Airport Extravaganza is included with general admissions fees.
The Museum offers visitor parking in the lot adjacent to our building at 2088 Wellington Ave.
During particularly popular events, our parking lot may reach capacity. When this occurs, guests are welcome to use the nearby Winnipeg Airports Authority (WAA) Economy parking lot.
To access the WAA Economy lot, stay left on Wellington Avenue and continue past the 7-Eleven, where you can loop around and follow to the left to enter the WAA lot.
Please note that WAA parking rates apply.
