Join us this Canada Day for a high-flying challenge the whole family can enjoy!
Design and build your very own paper airplane, then head to our runway to see how far it can fly! Participants will have three chances to launch their aircraft and compete for the longest flight of the day. This contest is fun for all, but the competition for prizes is only for ages 5-15.
Prizes include complimentary passes, Hobbs merchandise, and a grand prize of a Youth/Student Membership for a whole year of fun to the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada!
Whether you’re an aspiring aerospace engineer, a future pilot, or simply looking for some Canada Day fun, this hands-on activity is a great way to put your skills to the test while learning about the principles of flight.
Winners will be contacted on July 2.

Anyone can try their hand at flying the paper planes, but the competition is exclusive to ages 5-15.

The grand-prize winner of the furthest recorded distance of their paper airplane will win their own youth/student museum membership, granting them entirely free access and perks to the museum for a year! The winner of the draw will receive two complimentary museum passes and a Hobbs t-shirt.
The Museum has a parking lot located directly beside our building at 2088 Wellington Ave., which normally accommodates visitor parking.
During particularly popular events, additional parking may be required. In these cases, guests may use the nearby WAA Economy parking lot as an alternative.
To access the WAA Economy lot, please stay left on Wellington Avenue and loop around at the 7-Eleven gas station to enter the lot.
